WISTA & JA of South Florida - Educate the Youth

AME's very own Christine Battles had two special opportunities to speak to students at New River Middle School & South Broward High School with Women's International Shipping & Trading Association/WISTA and Junior Achievement of South Florida. Here's a recap of both speaking sessions:

South Broward High School - WISTA Speaker Panel

WISTA members, Anna Silva, Port Everglades, Lesley Karentz Buchanan, STAR Center, Christine Battles, Advanced Mechanical Enterprises/AME, and Rachel Kotkowski with Royal Carribean visited South Broward High School to educate students enrolled in the Marine Magnet Program and the Global Logistics Program about the Marine Industry. The panel spoke about their journey into the maritime community and gave advice on how to land a career in our dynamic field.

New River Middle School - Junior Achievement of South Florida Speaker Series

Christine Battles & Sean Smith, MIASF participated in New River Middle’s Speaker Series, a collaborative panel with Junior Achievement of South Florida. They spoke to over 100 students in the 8th grade about their journey into the Marine Industry and some of the challenges they had to overcome. They also touched on the importance of soft skills and proper workplace etiquette to be successful. The same students will have an opportunity to visit the JA Sea the World Storefront during their upcoming field trip to JA South Florida.

"Christine, Thank you so much for speaking to our students at New River and assisting me in reaching out to the marine industry community. You and Sean made a great team!" Claire Aguilera, JA South Florida
