Marine News: Expanding our Reach in OCONUS... the Non-Continental States

This quarter, AME proudly supported U.S. Government vessels in two non-continental states, showcasing our ability to deliver precision alignment and engineering services wherever the mission takes us.

Hawaii: Reduction Gear Installation & Alignment: AME recently completed a project in the state of Hawaii, Kapolei, supporting a scheduled maintenance period at a shipyard on a U.S. Government vessel. Our team installed a new reduction gear and performed precise alignments of the gear to the shaft line and the engine to the reduction gear. Following launch and docking, AME finalized alignments, leaving the reduction gear with acceptable bearing loads and the main engine aligned within manufacturer tolerances. Vesesel performed exceptionally well on sea trials.

Alaska: Combined optical & laser driveline alignment evaluation: In the city of Ketchikan, Alaska, AME carried out an optical alignment evaluation of a dry-docked U.S. Government vessel. Using a callobrated precison  borescope, our engineer assessed the port and starboard shaftlines. Results showed a good alignment of the shaft cutless bearings. Once the vessel was afloat, AME followed-up by performing a laser alignment of the combined main engines and gears to their shaflines. Fluke Pruftechnik Rotalign system was used for optimal precision and minor adjustments were made to correct the alignment and mount loading.
