IYBA Yacht Engineering Seminar 2019
IYBA’s 5th Annual Yacht Engineering Seminar/YES was held on Tuesday, April 16th at Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina. 10 speakers from different marine industry businesses that service yachts presented on topics ranging from “Naval Architecture – Refit Feasibility – What makes sense?” to “HVAC: Modern Methods & Requirements” AME’s president, Rich Merhige, spoke for the fifth consecutive year, this time discussing “Work Smarter, Not Harder – Reliability Centered Maintenance.” AME along with Cummins, Seakeeper, Northern Lights, DLBA, Florida Nautical Surveyors and Robert Allen Law sponsored the event. Tavistock wrapped up the day and briefed the audience on their plans to revitalize Pier 66 to its status as Fort Lauderdale’s Social Harbor with new dock-side residential offerings and an updated take on the iconic hotel.
“Pier Sixty-Six’s reimagination will be focused on activating our strongest feature, our prime waterfront setting. Our Marina will be a focal point of the property and serve as a gateway link between hotel guests, locals and boaters, energized by a new promenade featuring retail shops, offices and dining options. While the hotel undergoes this redevelopment process, the Marina and Pelican Landing restaurant will remain open,” Megan Lagasse, Marine Director.
