We've had the privilege of working closely with a longstanding transit services customer, performing alignment work on several of their locomotives. This partnership, built over many years, has allowed us to highlight how deep our expertise runs and our commitment to precision.
A recent series of work trips showcases our meticulous approach to ensuring each locomotive operates at its best. Utilizing the advanced Pruftechnik Rotalign Touch laser alignment system, our team performed laser alignments under three specific conditions: Cold Light, Cold Loaded, and Hot Loaded. This process involved aligning the Kato generator to the MTU 20V4000 diesel engine drive, a crucial task for optimal performance.
Here's a brief overview of the works performed:
- Precision Alignment: The Kato generator was laser-aligned with the main diesel engine on the locomotive while in a cold-light condition.
Adjustments Post-Fluid Fill: After the engine fluids were filled, we checked the alignment in a cold-loaded condition, making necessary adjustments. - Final Checks and Adjustments: A final trip ensured the alignment was perfect with the engine fully loaded and hot, with further adjustments made as needed.
- Bolting and Torquing: Critical components such as engine mount top nuts, generator hold-down bolts, and the Geislinger coupling were meticulously torqued according to manufacturer specifications.
This detailed process shows the importance of thoroughness in every step of our service. Through jobs like these, we continue to support the seamless operation of locomotives, ensuring they meet the high standards expected by the industry.
