Betting on Talent, Building the Future
At AME, we understand the value of taking smart bets on emerging talent. Partnering with Junior Achievement of South Florida’s Pre-Apprenticeship Program was a strategy to build a stronger workforce. On Presidents’ Day, we joined JA's Industry Breakfast to share one of our standout success stories: Armani Hosang.
Hiring apprentices requires trust. Sure, there’s risk, but it’s also an opportunity to guide and shape someone’s skills from the start. Armani was that apprentice for us, and he quickly proved that taking that chance was a win.
Junior Achievement’s program brings more than just technical training. Their emphasis on soft skills like communication, teamwork, and professionalism sets their apprentices apart. Armani came in ready to learn and grow, and he’s done exactly that. His development has been a clear example of how important programs like this are—not only for young professionals but for businesses willing to invest in their future teams.
The maritime pre-apprenticeship program we’re part of feeds directly into the Marine Industries Association of South Florida’s Yacht Service Technician Apprentice Program, creating a seamless pathway for new talent in our field. They also do the same in the construction industry through the ABC Institute. Junior Achievement isn’t stopping there. They’ve recently launched new tracks for Water Operations Specialists and Telecommunications Tower Technicians. These programs are setting up students to excel in specialized careers while creating a talent pipeline for businesses like ours.
For us, it’s simple. Junior Achievement is creating opportunities that change lives and deliver real value to companies. Armani’s story is proof that this model works.
If you're a business leader, consider this your cue to act. Take a chance on apprentices. Trust in the process. It’s a small step with a big payoff—for them, for you, and for the future.
