Rich Merhige

In 1992, Richard Merhige founded Advanced Maintenance Engineering and later in 2002 Advanced Mechanical Enterprises. He attended the State University of New York Maritime College, earning a Bachelor Degree in Marine Engineering, continuing his education in Systems and Ocean Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic, and George Washington Universities. He furthered his specialized training, earning a USCG License as a Second Assistant Engineer Steam & Motor, Unlimited Horsepower and a certification as a Vibration Analyst. Guided by his knowledge and expertise, AME is recognized as an external specialist for condition monitoring by the American Bureau of Shipping.

Junel is an AME Field Service Engineer with a comprehensive background and knowledge in diesel engines, including performance, repairs, maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, overhauls and failure analysis. He started as a Cadet Engineer for Monark Equipment Corporation, the Caterpillar dealer in the Philippines in 1994, gaining extensive experience on the Caterpillar 3600 barges (3616×39) and land based installations.

W. Harry Antrobus

A recent graduate of California Maritime Academy, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Engineering Technology, Harry Antrobus was recruited by AME in August, 2015. As an undergraduate, Harry gained experience in the supply and operations division of Sol Petroleum where he oversaw tanker discharges in different ports, ensuring safety and security protocols were followed. At Pritchard Gordon Tankers, he conducted maintenance on the ship’s equipment and lifeboats and ensured safety equipment and pollution preventatives were in compliance. He conducted maintenance on the ship’s MAK 8M32C and Cummins diesel engines for propulsion and generation purposes.

Lawrence “Tony” Planamento

Tony Planamento joined the AME team in May, 2016, as a mechanical engineering intern. Upon completing his summer term, he was offered a full time position as a field service engineer. Tony earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. Prior to joining AME, he was a supervisor at Pines Ice Arena for ten years, where he also plays, and coaches ice hockey. He also volunteers his time with the Boys & Girls Club of America.

Marlon Gomez

As a Field Service Technician, Marlon’s area of expertise is in laser alignment and pumps. He is an ASNT-TC-1A Certified Level 1Vibration Analyst and has taken courses in Shaft Alignment and ABS. He is also a skilled welder and fabricator and has a comprehensive background as a yacht mechanic. Most recently, Marlon successfully completed AME’s Optical Alignment course, instructed by Brunson. Mario Mimura

Mario is one of AME’s Vibration Analysts and a Field Service Technician. He has over 18 years of experience in predictive and preventative maintenance, and specializes in vibration and balancing. He has completed comprehensive, advanced coursework for vibration analysis, laser and optical alignment and dynamic balancing. Most recently, Mario completed a customized Brunson Optical Alignment Seminar, and Wartsila Enviroguard PSE Seal Installation & Service course, specifically created for authorized distributors.

Jorge Garcia

Jorge joined AME in 2014 as a Mechanic, and has worked towards his current position as a Service Technician. A native of Cuba, Jorge earned his Mechanical Engineering degree in 1993, before sailing as crew on luxury yachts. When land based, Jorge served as concierge, translator, driver and guide to many yacht owners and crew visiting Marina Hemingway in Havana, and assisted with sales for yachts and their charters.
