Alignment Services
Alignment – using optical or laser technologies, extends the life of machinery and markedly improves its quality of operations. Laser and
Optical Alignment programs administered by AME’s Service Technicians and Engineers greatly improve the productivity of machinery by increasing
efficiency and preventing premature failure. Ultimately, any Alignment service provided by Advanced Mechanical Enterprises will save you money.
Laser Alignment
AME utilizes the newest, state-of-the-art Laser Alignment System, the Rotalign Ultra by Ludeca. Computerized laser
alignment can alleviate many issues, such as: engine overloading, decreased fuel efficiency, excessive wear on bearings and related machinery while
offering a smoother, quieter running machine. With a reduction in repairs, down time and outages, you’ll get a better return on your investment for your
equipment.
Optical Alignment
Optical alignment is used for new installations as well as refits and general repair work in conjunction with laser alignment.
AME uses precision optical instruments to align machines and their components to exacting tolerances, thereby improving operations and extending your
machine’s life.
Industrial Alignment
Over 50% of plant failures are a result of misalignment. AME’s skilled alignment Technicians and Engineers can attain and maintain machine alignment
to prevent costly downtime.
- Laser Alignment
- Pumps (centrifugal, vane, gear) – When the correctly balanced and coupled shafts of a pump and its drive unit
rotate on a common axis, vibration is minimized and the forces across the coupling are within tolerance. Accurate alignment is critical
with sealed pumps, particularly when rotating seal designs where the springs or bellows rotates with the shaft are being used.
Misaligned pumps and drives result in vibrations and premature wear of bearings, seals, couplings and the surrounding environment.
- Motors(electric, hydraulic) - Increased friction on a misaligned shaft makes it harder to turn resulting in the drive
motor drawing more power or running speed increasing. A maintenance program with Laser Alignment can prevent these issues.
- Fans (overhung, centerhung) Laser alignment systems can be used to accurately
and efficiently align cooling tower fans, making plant maintenance easy and affordable.
- Turbines - Alignment of drivelines, Measurement of tower flanges & Monitoring of machinery positional
changes are all easily achieved with Laser Alignment.
- Generators - Laser alignment can be used to align generators with main shafts to reduce vibration and markedly
improve equipment reliability.
- Optical Alignment
- Machinery bedplates can easily and accurately be checked for flatness and squarness.
- Straightness and flatness measurements are the most important and basic steps of the alignment process
required before the installation of machinery.
Marine Alignment
Proper alignment is critical in shipbuilding and marine maintenance. Stresses and vibrations created by rotating misaligned shafts
will not only lead to breakdowns in the engine’s shaft assembly, but can also result in damage to struts and hulls, leading to leaking
and possible sinking.
Unlike land-based driven shaft applications, boats and marine craft are not rigid structures and are subject to twisting forces due to
their environment and load. All of this will affect engine mounts and propeller shafts. Marine drive systems do not indefinitely remain in
alignment and need to be periodically checked and realigned to reduce wear to drive train units, components, and the craft itself.
Precise static alignment will improve dynamic alignment, allowing machinery to operate within the manufacturers’ required tolerances.
- Laser Alignment
- Main drive engines – Proper alignment of the drive shafts, best attained through Laser alignment, keeps
engines running in optimal condition.
- Reduction gears reduce an input speed to a slower output speed. Laser Alignment reduces the bearing
reaction forces on the reduction gear. This improves efficiency and reduces downtime.
- Propeller shafts – Laser Alignment of shafts provide 10 to 100 times the accuracy of conventional methods.
Precision Shaft Alignment removes harsh forces that can cause premature bearing failure and reduce seal life.
- Generators – Laser alignment can be used to align generators with main shafts to reduce vibration and
markedly improve equipment reliability.
- Optical Alignment
- Propeller shafts - The installation and maintenance of propeller shafts requires high quality alignment skills
and equipment that AME alone offers.
- Reduction Gears - The length of tooth contact across the face of the gear teeth is the key to satisfactory
alignment of reduction gears.
- Main Engines – An optical alignment check of your engine is a quick and accurate way to get a good picture
of why a vessel may be experiencing certain issues.
- Rudder Bores – Alignment of rudder bores can be accurately measured and corrected with AME’s Optical
Alignment System. It’s important to ensure rudder shaft bearings and upper carrier bearings are correctly aligned to prevent and
reduce complications from misalignment.
